Christianity is a religion. Religion is a worldview. A worldview is the basically the foundation for which we decides what is right and wrong, the order of things, and much more.. It's just we know and how we look at everything.
What is apologetics? According to Wikipedia, apologetics is defined as:
"Apologetics is the religious discipline of defending religious doctrines through systematic argumentation and discourse."
Christianity is one worldview that is unique. It is not a superstition. It is truth. It is based on a single event that can be proven: the resurrection.
Here is a look into apologetics. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6.
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."
It's about the knowledge of God. It's defending the knowledge of God. It's showing that Christianity is rational and true.
Believers need to know it. Believers need to talk it. Believers need to defend it. Believers need to live it. Believers need to build on it.
When building a house, office building, shipping plaza, it even a simple parking lot, construction workers will work on the foundation first. Get the foundation right, and the building has something to stand on. Get it wrong, and the building will show cracks and could destroy the building.
Having a solid foundation is a key theme throughout the Bible. Here is a list of some verses.
- Deuteronomy 32:4, 31
- 1 Samuel 2:2; 22:16
- Psalm 18:21; 28:1; 62:2; 94:22; 118:22
- Isaiah 28:16; 54:11
- Matthew 7:24; 21:42
- Acts 4:11
- Ephesians 2:20
- 1 Corinthians 3:11
- 1 Timothy 6:19
- 1 Peter 2:6
What is clear, is that anything built on a solid foundation has a better chance at standing. When things get shaken, only a solid foundation will hold. This includes your reasons for believing in God. It is the rational and reasonable thing to do.
Do you believe in God? Why do (or don't) you believe?
